Since I been back around the way... A long time...
*music fades out*
It's been a while since you heard from us, but we're proud
to say our new server is up and firing on all cylinders (and
she's a fast one!) What does that mean for you?
New shows, faster downloads and a whole lot more (which
we'll reveal over the coming months). But lets not get
too far ahead of ourselves as this update is no pushover by
any means.
We're kickin it old school this time with a flashback to
1994 as The Roots landed a gig at the esteemed
Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. Travel
back in time and catch a front row seat to the closest
you'll get to a Square Roots show in the glory of soundboard
recording. With forgotten Root Nikki Yeoh lending her
talents on a baby grande, accompanied by Black Thought, Hub,
?uestlove and the elusive Malik B., its no wonder
this rare treat became one of the most coveted shows in our
archives. Audiophiles should also note that this show
is being offered in lossless FLAC format over on
Etree.
Not everything stays in Las Vegas, as we managed to
get our hands on another soundboard recording of The Roots
live on stage at the
Palms Casino in 2002. This is one of our personal
favorites and is another soundboard source. The band
was in top form, most notably during their renditions of
Pussy Galore, Adrenaline and Rhymes and Ammo to name a few.
Next up, we travel across the border to Montreal
as The Roots visited the set of
MusiquePlus in 1999. Joined by
Common and the lovely Jill Scott, the
band ripped through Love of My Life, The Next
Movement and You Got Me, while chatting it up
between songs with the host (even Hub speaks!).
J'espere que ca te plait!
Continuing our new initiative to deliver more
Roots concert video, we have the second
installment of The Legendary’s
AOL Broadband Concert from May 2004 in Los
Angeles. With every future update, we will
continue to include more video of the show until
the entire video of the show is available for
download.
Finally, we head back to 1995 as The Legendary
took the stage in
Central Park, NYC as part of the
SummerStage series. With Rahzel by
their side, the crew tears through a set of old
classics to the delight of the crowd. As
with the Montreux show, this set is also being
shared in lossless FLAC format over at
Etree.
Some big additions for the site are still in the
works, so stay tuned and try to catch The
Legendary this summer as they are playing many of
big festivals in the US and across Europe.
